What Is It?

Hugs For Heroes is a project that is supported by the City of Dana Point, Capo Cares, Dana Point restaurants, and Capo Beach Church which seeks to help, support, and encourage our local healthcare providers at Mission Hospital. These selfless front line workers have been working to the point of exhaustion and beyond to keep us safe and healthy and we want to give back to them! We encourage everyone to send a donation to help support these workers! Below are all the ways that you can get involved!

How Do I Get Involved?

1 meal = $10
5 meals = $50
10 meals = $100
20 meals = $200
30 meals = $300
Feed a whole shift = $1,000

Donating Snacks & Cards

Snacks:

Mission Hospital gratefully accepts any bulk snacks or drinks as long as they are individually wrapped and do not require refrigeration. Bulk fruit can be donated in boxes or bags. Sorry, but homemade snacks are not accepted due to hospital protocols.

Suggestions: Individually packaged nuts, dried fruit, granola bars, fruit cups, apple sauce, beef or turkey jerky, trail mix, juices, Gatorade, chips, pirate booty, popcorn, muffins, cookies. Bulk fruit (easily eaten items like tangerines, apples, and firm bananas).

Cards and Notes:

Although hand written notes cannot be allowed in COVID care areas, Mission Cares staff will post them on general bulletin boards throughout the hospital and scan
some of them into the hospital newsletter. As we all know, these selfless front line workers have been working to the point of exhaustion and beyond. Please write a short note or card to let them know we appreciate and honor them as “heroes” of this pandemic. Volunteers will deliver snacks and notes to Mission Hospitals in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach once or twice weekly.

*Please drop off bulk snacks and notes of encouragement in the designated bin at the Dana Point Community Center, 34052 Del Obispo Street, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 4 PM.
